Palermo Central Station
The historic home Il Giardino di Ballarò is only a few minutes from the Central Station of Palermo, where the central railway trains and urban and extra-urban buses depart and arrive. Thanks to the location of our B&B, you can reach Palermo Central Station in just 12 minutes by foot. The Central Station of Palermo, in Piazza Giulio Cesare, was built by the architect Perez, in the southwestern part of the city. The building opened in 1886, has a U-shape and three orders of columns, with a portico at the bottom. In Piazza Giulio Cesare there are the historic buildings that form the monumental entrance of Via Roma and the equestrian statue dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II. In the direction of Corso Tukory there is the Vicari Gate, the monumental entrance of Via Maqueda and the Convent of S. Antonio da Padua, which still has original machinery of the 1800s. The Central Station is the destination of many urban bus routes, perfect for visiting Palermo using public transport. Furthermore, at the central station there are the offices of the travel companies that travel to Palermo Airport "Falcone and Borsellino".
University of Palermo
Il Giardino di Ballarò is a great solution for teachers or families looking for a B&B in Palermo in the University area. The university citadel is just 8 minutes away, and there are numerous detached departments such as Law, Political Science, Biology, Medicine that are located close to the Il Giardino di Ballarò.
The University of Palermo is in Viale delle Scienze, in the area of the Royal Palace and Piazza Indipendenza. The university citadel is partially located within the park of villa d’Orléans, home of the Presidency of the Sicilian Region, a garden with a small zoological area, open to the public with the entrance in Via Re Ruggero. Part of the park has been entrusted to the University for the installation of the experimental garden of the faculty of Science, and today it still presents interesting architectural elements such as the neo-Gothic hunting shack, built in the early 1800s, from which access to the Qanat, the underground water channels built during the Arab period.
